Sin City Tattoos is regarded as one of the best Melbourne tattoo studios because we employ only the top tattoo artists. Melbourne-area natives and visitors are invited to stop by our shop, located 60 Keilor Road, Essendon North, to get inked!
Wondering what to expect when getting a tattoo? Well, at Sin City's Melbourne tattoo studios, we believe that it's important for our clients to understand the tattooing process from start to finish.
Once you select your design, or work with one of Melbourne's best tattoo artists to create a personalised and unique tattoo design, you'll be asked to provide proof of age via an identification card. Our clients are also required to complete paperwork that serves to provide informed consent for the tattooing process.
Then, we'll invite you to sit down in our tattooing area. We do have the capability to provide you with a more private tattooing area if your desired tattoo location requires a bit of clothing removal.
Sin City's Melbourne tattoo studios features three plasma screen televisions, so you can watch a movie or TV while you get tattooed. We've found that this helps to occupy the client's mind, so they don't focus exclusively on the discomfort that's associated with the tattooing process. Watching TV helps you focus on something other than the sensations associated with the tattooing process, so it enables you to remain bit more comfortable and the time tends to pass a bit faster as well. We also have vending machines on site so you can get a drink or a snack during your visit. (best tattoo melbourne)
While you're settling in at our Melbourne tattoo studios, you tattoo artist will be preparing for the tattooing process. He or she will don a mask and gloves and they'll then start assembling the tattoo gun and preparing the pigments. Sin City Tattoo uses only sterile, one-time-use needles to prevent the spread of infection and disease. The tattoo artist will also set out one-time-use pigment cups which are used to hold the ink that will be used during the process. The cups, along with any remaining ink, are discarded after every client.
Once the preparations are complete, the tattoo artist will prepare your body for the tattoo. This involves shaving the region. Even so-called “hairless” regions must be shaved to clear away small hairs, which can interfere with the tattooing process. The small hairs can also snag on the tattoo gun components, which can be quite painful as the hairs get pulled out! The shaving process also serves to remove dead skin cells on the very surface of the skin. The artists at Sin City's Melbourne tattoo studios use only one-time-use razors, which are discarded after each client. It's yet another measure to ensure that the process remains completely hygienic.
Once shaving is complete, the tattoo artist will cleanse the area with a disinfectant to remove all surface germs. Even a healthy person's skin is coated with bacteria, including Staph which can pose a serious infection risk. Staph infections are among the most common type of skin infection that can arise during the tattoo healing process. A staph infection can cause serious scars that essentially ruin a healing tattoo from the inside out, so it's important to take precautions to remove bacteria from the skin's surface. Otherwise, the tattoo needles can basically push the bacteria down and into the lower layers of the skin, which then subsequently results in infection. These ever-present skin-dwelling bacteria are also the reason why you must regularly wash your tattoo with anti-bacterial soap during the healing process in an attempt to avoid a tattoo infection.
Then, the tattoo artist will apply a decal-type guide to your skin's surface. The tattoo artist will follow the lines as a guide while inking the outline. The decal also serves as a last opportunity for the client to alter or refine the tattoo's placement.
Next, its time to begin tattooing! Our Melbourne tattoo artists begin by inking the outline, which is typically in black pigment. Once the outline is complete, the tattooist will remove the outline needle from the tattoo gun, and he or she will insert a different type of needle that's used to perform the shading process.
Throughout the tattooing process, the artist will periodically spray your skin with a cool, soothing disinfectant solution, which also serves to rinse away blood and excess pigment that's on the skin's surface. The artist will use sterile pads to wipe away the blood and pigment.
The shading process can take hours or just a few minutes; it all depends on the complexity and size of the tattoo. You may also need to coordinate you're breathing pattern with the tattoo artist if you're getting inked on your chest, rib cage or back.
If you have any questions during the process, you're always welcome to ask one of our top tattoo artists! Melbourne-area natives and visitors are invited to visit us at any time.
